
In order to increase community awareness and community participation with the process of sanitation, an initiative was taken to discuss the hygiene by linking the results of malnutrition at the community level, as a result of cross intervention, the block Charama not only achieved the status of open defecation free within the required limits but also 14.1% of children fall outside the malnourishment level Whereas in the last 3 years (2013, 2014, and 2015) there was an average reduction in the level of malnutrition by 1% to 2%
In the process of cross intervention, the community is being triggered very soon to discuss with the community the malnutrition of their children and the condition of malnutrition due to the unhygienic conditions of the village and the health status of the children in the future. Linking the deep inter-relationship of malnutrition and insanitation, it has been decided by the district administration that with open defecation free, a malnutrition free development block should be made. For which the campaign was implemented on a planned basis with the participation of Panchayat Raj Institutions, Mahila Groups, Voluntary Organizations, officers of other departments, parents etc.
